Obituary of Morten "Morty" Alm

Morten "Morty" Alm, age 75, of Niceville, Florida was welcomed with open arms into his Heavenly Home on Feb 20, 2025.  Morty was born in Oltedal, Norway at the home of his grandmother, Ingrid Dirdal, on Jan 1, 1950, to parents Sigmund and Oddbjorg (Billie) Alm.  At age 6, Morty along with his family moved to the United States thereby settling in Fort Walton Beach, where Morty attended Choctawhatchee High School.  

Morty is survived by his son, Jason Alm; brothers Jimmy and Dale Ledford; favorite sister, Leslie Braswell; one granddaughter, one great-grandson, three nieces, and three nephews, three great-nieces,  and a great nephew.  Morty was predeceased by his father, Sigmund Alm, mother, Oddbjorg (Billie) Downs, and brother, Kenneth Ledford.  

Morty was known as a true-to-the-core, Harley rider.  Because of his love for riding the open road and his loyalty and dedication to his riding brothers, he was named one of the "Original Party Boys".  You could always find Morty riding his Harley, rain or shine.  Some of his greatest memories were spent at "The Early Bird Tavern" listening to some old Johnny Cash, George Jones, and Merle Haggard on the world-famous jukebox they had. Morty enjoyed watching NASCAR and the History Channel and he cherished being around his family and friends.  But his greatest love of all was when he got to spend time with his great niece and great nephew.  Morty had a sharp sense of humor, a loyal spirit, and a heart of gold and if he loved you, he loved you with all he had.  And he would go to the ends of the earth to protect you.  

We take comfort in knowing that Morty's pain has been replaced with joy.  And although our hearts are heavy with sadness for not having him with us physically, he will live on in the memories, love, and laughter that we will continue to share about him. Morty, we know you are in Heaven riding those streets of gold.  Keep the cool wind in your face and the warm sun on your back as your sweet soul is now forever flying free.  See you again soon sweet man...

A Celebration of Life for Morty will be held on Saturday, Mar 15, 2025, from 1 ~ 5 pm, at The Whiskey Barn located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Morty's Celebration of Life will be held alongside The Annual Biker Reunion Party.  Since Morty never missed this reunion, his family feels this is the perfect way to honor Morty.
