Obituary of Sheri Jean McDonald

Sheri Jean McDonald, 66, of Destin, FL passed peacefully on February 27, 2025.

She was born in Fredrick, OK on November 14, 1958 to parents Chester and Bettie Hawley. She graduated from Williston High School in 1975. She married Captain William McDonald in 2005.

Sheri had many great talents, from growing plants to creating beautiful works of glass art. She touched many lives in and around the Destin art and fishing community and was always thinking of others. While dabbling in Mary Kay she saw a need and worked to create the nonprofit Operation Sunscreen to send Mark Kay products overseas to military personnel stationed in hazard zones.

Sheri was preceded by her husband Capt. Bill McDonald. Sheri is survived by her sister, Janet Thompson; nephew, Ed Sherrouse; daughters, Sarah Simon and Jessica Sullivant; son/grandson, Trevor Hawley; step children, Joe McDonald, Thomas McDonald and Melissa Owens; grandchildren, Phoebe, Dannie, Harmony, Hope, Faith, Grace, Ryder, Vincent, Leelynd, Samuel, and Emily.

The celebration of life for both Sheri and Capt. Bill will be Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Harry T’s on the Destin harbor from 3pm-5pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the go fund me, https://gofund.me/eb64ce55.
