Obituary of Peter Joseph Hughes II

Peter (Pete) Hughes, who was born on October 5, 1968, went to his heavenly home on February 5, 2025 at the age of 56 years. Peter had an amazing ability to adapt to new situations which served him well in his military career.  While he took life seriously, he was also quick to play tricks on his family and friends. Growing up he was a funny character who was fearless and fun to be around. Peter’s personal life frequently found him working on his home and garden in Pensacola, Florida.

 

His military service began with the Marine Corps in 1989. Where he served in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the Gulf War on the USS Guam (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) then in the Helicopter Squadron 263 in Somalia during operation “Restore Hope/Continued Hope”.  Followed by 8 years in the Navy. Peter received honorable discharges from both branches of the United States Military.

 

Surviving his loss is his sister, Jennifer Hughes Fordham and her two sons, Christopher and Spencer. Along with his ex-wife Ginger and countless friends who go back to his early elementary school years.

 

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Nora Lilly Shugars, Peter Jay Hughes and his sister Elizabeth Hughes. 

 

His life will be celebrated by a private ceremony at a later date.
