Kevin McGhee

Obituary of Kevin Patrick McGhee

Kevin Patrick McGhee, 64 years, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

He was born on June 8, 1959, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Roy Max McGhee and Laura Belle McGhee (nee Kemp) His parents were both military and he lived in many places as they were stationed here and there: in Japan, England, and numerous states in the U.S. with them and his two siblings.

He is survived by his mother, Laura, his older brother Sean Michael McGhee, and his younger sister, Mary Melodee "Missy" McGhee. He was uncle to Missy's son, Jake Ross Cramer, and grand uncle to Jake's son, Miles Oliver Cramer. After graduating from Choctawhatchee Senior High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1979,  where he was a member of the elite choral group, The Madrigals, he spent time in the Army as a cook.  He was previously married to Jody Plouffe and with her has a son named Christopher Roy, both of whom also survive him.

He eventually settled down to live with his mother Laura, in Pensacola, Florida, and was a comfort and help to her in her retirement. He was quite fond of movies and music, particularly Science Fiction and Fantasy and was quite the Rocky Horror Show fan. He sang, played the guitar, and loved folk and rock music. He was a sweet man with a warm, friendly, and welcoming disposition, and who loved animals - all of whom loved him back fiercely. Of all the people Sean's cat met, he was the only one she never attacked. He was that kind of guy.

He will be cremated and there will be no funeral or memorial service, rather the family will gather later this summer and remember him as fondly as he deserved.
