She was also preceded in death by her parents Willis Claude Woody, Sr., Mary McConnell Woody, and her brother Willis Claude Woody, Jr. She is survived by her sons Alexander Evans Carlson, Taylor Barth Carlson and daughter Laura Victoria Carlson. She is also survived by her brother David Woody and sister-in-law Janie Woody, brother and sisters-in-law Roger Cross and Betsy Carlson Cross and Barbara Carlson Janssen and many nieces and nephews. Miss Babs was known for her kindness, hostessing abilities and her love of a good party. She was also known for her interest in the history of people — she was a longtime and passionate genealogical researcher. Babs was also a Pearl Harbor survivor, Pensacola Junior College graduate, and 1960 Fiesta Court Princess. A former clarinetist, Miss Babs loved her jazz, blues, and any music genre that featured “a great horn.” A Pensacola High School Class of 1955 graduate, she was also a gifted and generous seamstress who shared her love of any and all thread crafts. A true Southern belle, Babs kept the faith as a member of and frequent volunteer for the various Episcopal Churches wherever she was domiciled, including Christ Church Pensacola where she and Dave were married in 1964. Her beauty, warm wit and humor will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family asks only that mourners raise a glass in remembrance of our beloved matriarch.
