Obituary of Janet Hannan Penniman

Janet Penniman, nee Hannan Janet Lee Hannan Penniman, 87, of Pensacola, Florida, passed peacefully after a short illness on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital, Gulf Breeze, Florida. Janet was born on November 12, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Dorothy and Earl Hannan. As a child, Janet was a talented dancer who studied with Carmen Thomas Dance Studio and was still found on the dance floor into her 80's. She graduated from Kirkwood High School and Washington University where she was an active member of Gamma Phi Beta and met her future husband, Allan Damon Penniman Junior. They were married at Grace Episcopal Church, Kirkwood, Missouri, on February 23, 1957. They resided in the Kirkwood area and were active in Grace Church until moving to Pensacola Beach permanently in the early 1990's. While in Kirkwood Janet served as a docent at the St. Louis Zoo, active in Kirkwood Theater Guild, served as Scout leader to both of her children, Bradley Allen Penniman of Northport, ME, and Cindy Penniman Andrews, The Woodlands, TX. Since moving to Pensacola Beach Janet has been actively involved at St. Francis Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze and their Senior Center, Women's Club of Pensacola Beach, and Impact 100. Janet was the best friend to many, both in St. Louis and Pensacola Beach, a wonderful hostess, lover of the beach, and always had a furry friend at her side. Janet is survived by her husband Allen, son Brad Penniman and daughter-in-law Kayleen, daughter Cindy Andrews and son-in-law Scott, grandchildren Hilary Andrews, Veronica Perry and husband Clayton, Sarah Brown and husband Andrew, Claire Pringle and husband Rhett and Allen Penniman. Great-grandchildren Judah, Levi, and Eliza Jane Pringle. And, of course Janey. The service for Janet will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, #1 St. Francis Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
