Obituary of Charles Augustus Neal

Charles Augustus Neal “Gus” age 77 of Pensacola Beach, passed away October 13, 2022. Gus was born in Columbus, Ga, attended Columbus High School, and graduated from The University of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kennedy S. Neal, two brothers Prentiss D Neal Jr and John N. Neal and is survived by his brother William E Neal, 4 nieces, 4 nephews and many other cherished family and friends. Gus spent much of his youth with his brothers and friends camping, fishing, rabbit hunting, and having many adventures on family property in Alabama. After graduating from the University of Georgia in Athens, he moved to Atlanta for work and eventually met his wife Kennedy. Gus and Kennedy moved to Pensacola Beach in 1972 where he developed a love for boating, especially sailboat racing. Gus was a long-time member of the Pensacola Beach Yacht Club and was well known and respected in the local racing community. Some of his fondest memories involved the crew and racing exploits aboard the Animal boat(s). Gus also enjoyed sharing his love of sailing knowledge with others.
