Obituary of THOMAS bERNIE aRNOLD
Thomas Bernie Arnold, 74, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
He was a native of Pensacola, attended Brentwood Elementary and Junior High, graduating from PHS in 1966. He loved country music and had his own early morning radio show at WPFA during high school and beyond, which even enabled him the opportunity to fly with the Blue Angels once. He enlisted in the US Air Force. Following that, he went into Law Enforcement, starting with the Florida Highway Patrol, then the Pensacola City Police, state corrections, parole/probation and ending at the UWF Police Department. He retired in 2010. He earned his college degree while working in law enforcement.
He was very active in sports growing up and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, diving, canoeing, camping etc. He played guitar and was very active at the music ministry (JNS) at St. Mary Catholic Church for many years.
He was married to Johnnie (Amos) Arnold for almost 44 years. They were blessed with two sons, Zachary Thomas and John Gabriel. He loved being a family and was very present in all that we did. A true southern gentleman, a humble a giving person. He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Virginia Arnold. He is survived by his spouse Johnnie, sons Zac and Gabe, sister Terry Speck and her spouse Donald Speck, sister-in-law Sharon Tucker and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a funeral mass on August 26 at 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church, located at 401 Van Pelt Lane in Pensacola, Florida. All are welcome. There will be a private ceremony for family at the gravesite afterwards. In lieu of donations or flowers, the family simply asks you to include more kindness towards others in your lives as a remembrance for him.
