Obituary of Naomi kay baltzell

Naomi Kay Baltzell lived just past 72... a majority of which in Pensacola. She was born in Crestview and had a great many stories to tell about it. She was especially close to her grandmother, Abbie Jane. She worked for the state as a social worker, although that title has since changed a few times. She might have taken over the world, but she met and then married William Baltzell. He preceded her in death by a good while, as well as her parents, Jack Becknell (Sr.) & Mary Catherine ("Cathy") Becknell, and an interesting assortment of dogs and cats. She is survived by her daughter, Dixie Baltzell. She also has two brothers, Fred and Jack Becknell and her best friend Susan Schluter, who was there at the end. Kay Baltzell was an intensely private person. She was a voracious reader, fiercely political, and too smart for her own good. She loved to sew. She loved Elvis. Still. She should have published her poems from high school. She should have written the next great novel. Instead, she endlessly encouraged her daughter, who writes now. She "should have done" any number of things, but was a devoted wife and beloved mother. She passed approximately 15 minutes after moving to hospice. If you're reading this and thinking of Kay, remember whatever good times you had. Recall some witty banter because she excelled at it. Family-Funeral & Cremation is handling logistics. A private family viewing is in the process of being planned. Memento mori.
