Obituary of George Albert Bouchard Crepeau

George Albert Bouchard Crepeau 92, of Pensacola FL passed peacefully on July 12, 2022. He was born to George Edgar Crepeau and Leona Bouchard Crepeau on January, 25, 1930, in Woonsocket RI. George grew up in Rhode Island, where he learned to sail competitively and built his first sailboat at the early age of 15. Later, he attended the University of South Carolina on an NROTC scholarship where he excelled academically and in varsity swimming. George fell in love with Sadie Elizabeth (Wibby) Noles at USC, and they married in Newtown, Connecticut. After graduation and Flight School, George became a Naval Aviator and flew missions over Vietnam. During peacetime he trained pilots in touch-and-go landings, water safety and ditching planes in the sea. After retiring from the Navy as a Lt. Commander, George moved his family to Lillian Alabama where he rekindled his passion for sailing and became a local legend along the Gulf coast, dominating the racing scene. His triumphs and exploits are mythical. George also took time to earn a Masters of Psychology where he went on to counsel at-risk teens for Lakeview Center in Pensacola FL. George is survived by son Paul Noles Crepeau of Beverly Hills MI and daughters Elizabeth Bouchard Crepeau of Indianapolis IN and Suzanne Crepeau Hope of Pensacola FL. He has seven grandchildren: Renee Crepeau, Jaclyn Thurston, Leo Crepeau, Ian Petty, Elaine Crepeau, Helen Hope, and Harrison Hope spread between Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Tennessee and four great-grandchildren: Paul Cannon, Annabell Cannon, Jasmine Thurston, and namesake George Louis Eugene Crepeau. George also has loved-ones-by-marriage: Ramona Crepeau, Pascale Corduries, Aimee Dunham and Calvin Thurston. George is preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Elizabeth Noles Crepeau, his parents, stepmother Emily Crepeau and sister Elaine Crepeau Holmberg. Family and friends will gather to share memories on a cruise into Perdido Bay Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2022. Funeral arrangements with full military honors are scheduled for early Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
