Obituary of kurt moritz jensen

Kurt Moritz Jensen 1927-2022 Kurt Moritz Jensen was born in Nykobing, Denmark on December 31, 1927. He passed away quietly and peacefully in his sleep on May 28, 2022. Kurt lived a life that was full of experiences that touched him in many ways. He was a child in the Great Depression, and little later on, he saw Nazis occupy his hometown during World War Two. He quit school early to help support the family through the lean times they were experiencing because of these two events, and he did so with strength and grace. He migrated to Canada in 1951, where he held a variety of jobs including being a farmhand as well as a lumberjack. Eventually, he secured a job with Canadian Bell Telephone installing phone lines across rural Canada. Two years later he migrated to the United States and transferred to Michigan Bell, which became ATT, where he worked for 38 years. During his tenure there, he received a number of awards for sales, safety, and perfect attendance. After his retirement in 1991, he relocated to Pensacola, Florida. It was here that he started his own business mowing lawns, doing general landscaping and handyman work. He continued to do this until he was 90. People would ask him what the secret of his longevity was, he would simply say "hard work". In 1954, Kurt married his wife of 61 years Jytte Carin Jensen (Jons). They enjoyed a long and happy relationship. In the latter years they enjoyed traveling a great deal. They visited nearly all of Europe, Australia, New Zealand. The United Kingdom, Northern Africa, Russia and every state in the US. They enjoyed many cruises as well that took them throughout the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Kurt is survived by his son and his wife, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters in Denmark and 1 sister in Australia. Kurt was active in The Telephone Pioneers Club, The Hug-A- Bear Club, and The Pensacola Senior Citizens Club. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Emerald Coast Hospice of Pensacola.
