Obituary of George catches

Reverend George Catches, age 95 stepped into heaven on March 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. George was born December 12, 1926, in Pensacola to Sam and Katie Catches. He was the last survivor of 7 children. He was a veteran of WW I l and later graduated from Tennessee Temple Bible College in 1956. He was often called "Greek" by his friends and lovingly called "Da" by his family. He pastored several churches during his lifetime. After retirement from ministry, he and his wife became active and faithful members at Burgess Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and always loved to tell a good joke to make people laugh. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dolores, daughter Kristi (John) Coe, son George Stephen (Terri) Catches; grandsons John Coe Ill, Derek (Sofia) Catches and Daniel Catches; granddaughters Jennifer (Galen) Counselman and Reanna Catches. Great grandchildren Jackson, Emma and Grayson Counselman, John Coe IV, Gabriel Nutt, Josalynn McAtee, and Jadyn Catches and many other relatives. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you would like to honor George's memory donations can be sent to Burgess Road Baptist Church or Covenant Care.
