Emmett Wayne Jones of Pensacola passed away on February 20, 2022.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents, John Paul and Peggy Jones, and his sister, Paula Jones Martin. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on September 13, 1950, and attended local public schools.
In 1968, Wayne joined the U.S. Navy. When he completed his service, he returned to Little Rock and was severely injured in a work-related automobile accident. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and required an intensive rehabilitation of over a year in a specialized facility. There he learned to speak, walk, read, and write again.
Due to the nature of his injury, Wayne would never be able to work again.
In order to be closer to his sister, Wayne and his parents moved to Pensacola in 1990.
One of Wayne's great joys was to be with Paula and her grandchildren.
He frequently bought stuffed animals for the children and would surprise them with gifts at family gatherings.
In spite of his many problems, Wayne had a sense of humor and a joke for those that he met.
Graveside services will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on March 1st at 10 A.M. The funeral procession will gather at the Warrington campus of Olive Baptist Church, 103 Winthrop Avenue at 9:30 A.M.
