Obituary of marvin lee wallin

Marvin was born to Namman and Bennie Lou Wallin on July 22nd 1951. He spent a lot of his childhood traveling the country as his family followed his father’s Navy career. No matter where his travels took him, he always kept his roots in North West Florida (with his mother’s family) and the mountains outside Asheville, NC (with his father’s family). He graduated from Milton High School in 1969. As a young adult he enjoyed football, roller skating, being outdoors and was even a local radio DJ known as “Wally Gator.” He graduated from UWF with a bachelor’s degree in business and a bachelor’s degree in biology. Marvin met the love of his life, Donna, on a blind date. He picked her up from her parents’ home in Pace, FL, and fell forever. They dated for two years before getting married. They traveled, and lived in North Carolina before eventually settling down again in Pace, Florida. After a 10-year honeymoon they had one child: Nellie, but he loved his son-in-law, Joshua, as his own. His passion was spending time in his woodshop building clocks and keepsakes for his family, and cabinets or furniture for his wife and home. He retired from Solutia (Cantonment, FL) at the age of 55. Marvin and Donna enjoyed retirement, camping and fishing every chance they had. He was able to watch the light of his life, his granddaughter Vivian, grow from the baby he adored into a beautiful seven-year-old. He was her “hoohoo” and they did their special handshake every time they saw each other. Despite being confined to home and the pain of his battle with medical issues in the last few years, Marvin always had a smile and laugh to share with anyone who visited. He passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2021 at the age of 70, in his home in Pensacola, Florida surrounded by his family. His family's memories of the good meals he made, the jokes he kept everyone laughing with, and his never-ending love from the most tender, gentle heart will brighten their paths forward. Marvin was Preceded in death by his mother, Bennie Lou Wallin; his father, Namman Wallin; and his sister Louella Russel. He is survived by his wife, Donna Wallin; Children Nellie and Joshua Cox; granddaughter Vivian Mitchell; brother, Arthur (Betty) Wallin; brother-in-law Ross Russell; and many nieces and nephews. Family-Funeral & Cremation is in charge of arrangements, there will be no service. The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, company and words of encouragement in their time of grief. “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us” -Helen Keller
