Obituary of Darlene marie niemiec

Darlene Marie Niemiec was granted her angel wings on December 25, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Darlene had touched and loved throughout her very memorable life. Darlene was born on July 28, 1947 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Mary Puerschner Soboleski and John Puerschner. Darlene was in the Class of ‘65 at Perth Amboy High. She began her career working at Johnson & Johnson while her husband was studying at Princeton. She then studied Business Information Systems at Drake Business School, which led her to hold several jobs that allowed her to fulfill her desire to look after others, such as her role as a Disability Hearing Court Reporter and a substitute teacher. She was born and raised in New Jersey, but moved to Texas in the 80’s where she lovingly raised her 3 children. When she was 55 she moved to her lifetime island dream getaway: Navarre, Florida. She loved summertime, especially in her natural habitat of the beach. She had drawers of seashells and never minded the smell of the salt air or the feeling of sand beneath her toes. Darlene had many hobbies including her love of tennis, reading, antique shopping, singing (especially the Beatles), and traveling. From Alaska to Greece to Budapest, many beautiful corners of the world were touched by her beautiful soul. Throughout the years, she had many beloved kitty cats, most recently “Boo”, “Pixie”, and “Harley”. Though her cats were black and white, Darlene’s life was full of color. From her "Blue Haven" beach house, hot pink lipstick, and colorful manicures of red and pink, she always had a brightness about her, and just being around her made your life more colorful too. Darlene will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and contagious smile. When “Hurricane Darlene” came around, you knew you were going to be entertained, loved, and feel her generosity, as she was one of the most giving people a person could know. She gave gifts, advice, and love that everyone who knew her could carry with them forever. The Christmas season was one of her favorite times of the year. She loved to bake gingerbread men, pies, watch “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and give every person she knew a thoughtful gift. Every year she made her traditional Christmas Eve dinner with our family, filled with exciting superstitions and blessing each of us with honey on our foreheads. Darlene embodied the giving spirit of Christmas all throughout her life, and now she is sleeping “in heavenly peace”, finally able to embrace her son David in the Lord’s Kingdom. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Mary Soboleski & John Puerschner; big brother, Jack Puerschner; former spouse, Donald W. Niemiec and her cherished son, David Charles Niemiec. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Niemiec Mock and son in law, Scott Mock and her two beloved grandchildren, Avery Elizabeth Mock and Taylor Scott Mock who called her “Grammy”; her son, Darin Michael Niemiec; her brother, Lawrence Puerschner and sister in law, Maria Puerschner; niece & Goddaughter, Leslie Koch and husband, Eddie Koch; great niece, Savanna Koch; great nephew, Brandon Koch; nephew & Godson, Carl Puerschner and wife, Chrissa Puerschner; great nephews, Carl & Gabe Puerschner and great niece, Emily Puerschner; and her sweet kitty, Harley.
