Obituary of harriet ann williams

Harriet A. Williams, 75 Passed away during the night of December 20th after a long illness. She had been a resident of Waterford at Creekside Pensacola Community for several months. She and her husband James P. Williams had resided in North Hill for 25 years at 407 West Desoto Street, Pensacola. Harriet was born April 30, 1946, the daughter of the late Burgess and Anna Newton of Canandaigua, New York. She graduated from Canandaigua Academy. Later she attended Erie County Technical Institute near Buffalo, New York. In June 1971 she received an associate in Applied Science in Nursing from the Community College of the Finger Lakes and practiced at the Veterans Hospital in Canandaigua. Harriet continued her education at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York where she was granted a certificate in Nurse Practitioner Studies. She and her daughter Christine moved to Ithaca, New York and she was employed by Cornell University in the Student Health Clinic. On January 6,1979 she married James Williams of Canandaigua, New York. They went to Flagstaff, Arizona later that year. Harriet worked in private practice in Flagstaff and for a short period of time was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to run a clinic of the Navajo Reservation. She was granted a Federal Certificate to practice as a Physician assistant. They moved to Camp Verde, Arizona where they bought a small homestead where they enjoyed having horses, chickens and the out-of-doors. Harriet continued to work in private practice and taught Physical Education at Yavapai College in Cottonwood, Arizona. Harriet's love for art enabled her to develop Deco Fx in which she enhanced local homes and businesses with murals, designs and decorations. During March 1996 Harriet and Jim moved to Pensacola, Florida where she worked for Baptist Hospital and continued her education. She attended the university Of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama and completed a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She also attended the Arizona School of Health Science and was granted a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Harriet Williams was an intelligent avid outdoor person, she enjoyed archery, tennis, scuba diving, hiking, horseback riding and just being alive. She was a gifted artist who participated in numerous shows in the Pensacola area. She is survived by her daughter Christine Botha who resides in the Auston Texas area, Dr. Larry Newton of Los Angles, California and her husband Dr. James Williams who lives in Pensacola. Harriet's remains will be cremated and returned to the world she loved so much. Her favorite charities include, Dementia, and Alzheimer research and St. Jude Research Hospital.
