Obituary of James aldon "pete" gates, sr.

James Aldon "Pete" Gates, Sr, 81, of Pensacola, FL passed away at his home on December 14, 2021. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. After his years in the service, he went to work in automotive paint and repair, where he retired. He loved his family and close friends first, but then came bowling, shooting pool, playing poker and Gator football. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Deloris "Lois" Guidy Gates, as well as his parents William "Bill" and Inez Gates. Those left to cherish his memory include: Two sons, Aldon (Missie) Gates and Allen (Kathy) Gates. 5 grandsons, A.J. (Jill) Gates, Zack (Susie) Gates, Jonathan (Taylor) Gates, Austin Gates and Justin Gates. 5 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters, his dogs Bella and Nina, as well as many other family members and friends that he/we call family. Services will be held graveside at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday January 13, 2022 @ 2:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at The American Legion Post 340, located at 8890 Ashland Ave, Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or Covenant Hospice.
