Obituary of martha denise lay mitchell

With great sadness in our hearts, we announce Martha Denise Mitchell 64, of Pensacola, FL passed away December 4, 2021 at 6:25 A.M. after a long courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Sarcoidosis. Denise was born in Nashville, TN December 27, 1956. She was raised in Florence, AL. She joined the United States Air Force in 1979. She lived all over the country but settled in Pensacola, FL in 1989. She worked many years in the construction industry and was an electrical apprentice also. She was the mother to five children and grandmother to fourteen grandchildren. She loved being a granny more than anything in the world. She was proud of all of her grandchildren and wants them to always remember you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Denise loved Alabama Football and surely was screaming from Heaven ROLL TIDE as they won the 2021 SEC Championship Game. She also loved crafting and designing wreaths, shopping for wreath supplies, trying to dance, and she loved singing although she was really bad at it. Denise was a force to be reckoned with she was outspoken, opinionated, funny, and will always be remembered for her impossible to read text messaging, inability to hear you on the phone because it was often upside down, clumsy accidents, un-needed QVC purchases and her love of Court T.V. Denise is preceded in death by her parents J.B. and Beulah Mitchell, Her brother William Mitchell, Her niece Jennifer Jenkins, Her Grand-daughter Jordan Lay, and her best friend Dawn Kenney. Denise’s beautiful and eccentric life will always be cherished by her children Emmie Tidwell (Mike), Adam Lewis, Joyce Thompson (Lee), Amanda Lay (Hillary), Jamason Lay (Lisa) her grandchildren Amberlyn, Justin, Heaven, Kameron, Austin, Olivia, Shelby, Kala, Zoe, Colton, Ethan, Jacob, Michael, and Kayden. She also leaves behind her sister Linda Jenkins, brothers Gerold (Jeanette) and Doug (Jeannie) Mitchell, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousin and extended family members. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Denise’s many doctors, West Florida Hospital nursing staff, and Covenant Care at West Florida Hospital for the amazing care that Denise was provided over the last five years and during her last days. You truly are a blessing and gave her the dignity she deserved. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 with visitation at 10:30 A.M and service at 11:30 AM at Family Funeral and Cremation, 5627 N. Davis Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32503.
