Obituary of louis Fay Bason

CWO2 Louis F. Bason, United States Air Force (Retired) May 24, 1919 – October 7, 2021 CWO2 Louis F. Bason, United States Air Force (Retired), beloved husband of Virginia Bason, passed away on October 7, 2021. Louis was born on May 24, 1919 to the late Thomas and Edna Bason in Atoka, Oklahoma. In addition to his parents, Louis is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Bason, his daughter, Deborah Brecheisen, and several aunts and uncles. Joining the Second Cavalry Brigade U. S. Army in El Paso, Texas, he later transitioned to the U. S. Air Force. He served in World War II in two major battles in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations as a Communications Officer with Airways and Air Communications Service. He was later assigned to Washington DC at Bolling Air Force Base, and Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. Louis Bason retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Warrant Officer (W-2) after 24 years of military service. After his retirement from military service, Louis worked for the General Services Administration, and later as a computer operations manager at the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was an accomplished golfer, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, archery, and target shooting. Louis was also an Amateur Radio Operator who preferred to communicate via Morse Code. He loved animals, especially dogs, and loved to feed “his” birds and squirrels and watch their antics every day. His survivors include his wife of seventy years, Virginia Bason; his daughter, Lynette Bason; his grandchildren, Courtney Layfield (DJ), Tristan Merritt, Carolyn Ridgway (Dustin), Michael Lee, Jennifer Brecheisen (Andy), Zachary Brecheisen (Victoria); and great grandchildren, David, Payton, and Flynn. The funeral is being arranged by Family-Funeral and Cremation with burial at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola with full military honors. Father John Licari of St. John’s Catholic Church will officiate at a grave side service. The family would like to extend special thanks to West Florida Hospital, Solaris Rehabilitation Center, and Covenant Care at West Florida Hospital for their loving care of Louis and their kindness and courtesy shown to the family during a difficult time. You taught us all how to be tough and never give up no matter the odds.
