Obituary of troy albert van dyke
Troy Albert VanDyke, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his daughter Debra’s home in Pace, FL on October 1, 2021. Troy was born on March 7, 1931, in Hopedale, IL. He was the third of seven boys born to Charles Albert and Lesta Jane (Deweese) VanDyke. Troy married Sadie Estella (Becky) Martin of Pekin, IL on June 7, 1952. They were married for 64 years.
Troy served in the Unites States Navy from 1951 to 1955 as a Technical and Electronics Instructor at the Millington, TN Naval base. He was a member of the base Varsity Volleyball team and was selected MVP after winning the All-South regional tournament, earning the team an entry into the national tournament comprised of AAU and YMCA teams. After the Navy, Troy worked for Sunbeam Appliance Company for 29 years and later operated his own appliance repair service company in Memphis, TN.
Troy was preceded in death by his wife Becky and four brothers, Charles, Marvin, Jesse, and Jack. He is survived by two brothers, Kenny VanDyke, and Larry (Sandy) VanDyke and brother-in-law Allen (Carole) Martin, five children--Debra Lynn (John) Walker, Danny Wayne (Robin) VanDyke, Susan Diane (Peter) Dellow, Brenda Kay (Robert) Bratton, and Troy Albert (Debbie) VanDyke, Jr.--10 Grandchildren, and 7 Great Grandchildren, all of whom he truly adored.
A private ceremony will be scheduled in the future for family and close friends.
