Obituary of james randell boyd

James Randell Boyd, age 76, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Greenville, Tx on December 4, 1944 to Joseph and Viola Boyd. He was the oldest of six children. James grew up in Port Acres, Tx and attended Stephen F. Austin High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in February of 1963 and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. While in the Marine Corps, he became an electrician by trade. James was honorably discharged in February of 1967 with the rank of Sergeant. In August of 1968, James had the honor of becoming a father when his son Randell (Randy) was born. James married his beloved wife, Gloria, in November of 1977. With this union he gained three children, Vicky, Jimmy, and Dale Uzzell. James and Gloria welcomed their daughter, Kandi, in October of 1978 and their family was complete. James was a devoted son, husband, daddy, and pawpaw and he will be greatly missed. James was preceded in death by his father Joseph R. Boyd; sisters Shirley Odom and Dorothy Dyson; and grandson Derek Uzzell. He is survived by his beloved mother, Tennie Viola Boyd; his loving wife of 43 years, Gloria; five children, Randy (Amanda) Boyd, Vicky (John) Gill, Jimmy Uzzell, Dale (Donna) Uzzell, Kandi (Patrick) Adamson; three brothers, Clifton (Paula) Boyd, Jeff Boyd, and Ross (Donna) Boyd; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church, 2208 Canal Street Port Arthur, Texas 77640 . Visitation will be held at 9:00 am with the service to follow at 10:00 am.
