Betty Manning Gossom was born March 27, 1939 in New Albany, Mississippi and she passed away on September 26, 2021 in Pensacola, Florida to Ralph Norwell and Mamie Lou McMillen. She is Preceded in death by her husband Col. George “Hamp” Hampton Gossom Sr, son; George Hampton Gossom Jr of New Orleans, LA, and brother; James Norvell Manning of New Albany, Mississippi. She is Survived by her daughter Betty Marie Gossom. Betty graduated from Ingomar High School, attended Memphis School of Commerce and University of New Orleans and lived in New Orleans, LA until 2007 when she retired in Pensacola, Florida. Betty felt her greatest achievement was a happy family with Hamp for 35 years and raising her two children, Marie and Hampton During her career in the commercial construction industry in New Orleans, she was honored to serve as president of New Orleans chapter of the National Association of Women in Constructions for two terms, 1980-1987 and 1996-1997 Betty also served as president of New Orleans chapter of Construction Specifications Institute Betty received a Professional Woman’s Award in 1987 and also received a Jack Enyart Award 2005 -CSI (Construction Specifications Institute, New Orleans Chapter) for outstanding services as an industry member. She was a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and the Coordinator of the 1992 national conference in New Orleans. Betty always stated she wanted to be remembered as a great person that lived her life and enjoyed the many families and friends who loved her. She shared many happy memories with them. She felt that the love she felt and gave added many dimensions to her life and life style. She loved God, people, and America.”
