Obituary of Marilyn Sharon Hughey

Marilyn Sharon Hughey, aka "Top Hat", beloved Mother, Grand, Great-Grandmother and Sister entered the gates of Heaven on July 27, 2021. She was born on May 29, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Delores and Eugene DuBois. She has lived in Florida for 50 years in the Fort Walton Beach/Navarre area and was a singer and entertainer and spent may years managing a hotel and restaurant. She loved her family, her church and her church family, Midway First Assembly of God, where she volunteered helping with the food pantry. She loved to help others and gave to St. Jude's and disabled veterans. She also enjoyed cooking, entertaining for family and friends, playing bingo and card games. Some of the fondest family memories are going to Wayside Beach, Funway Amusement Park, the Gulfarium, Goofy Golf, and the Zoo. Her family also loved listening to their momma practice singing in the band. She is preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Leona Percy; her brother, Roger DuBois and her nephew, Melvin Jones, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Larry Hughey; her daughters, Tracy Wilcox, Rhonda Crenshaw and Sharon (Randall) Jones; seven grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Murphy, Brittany Wilcox, Blake Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Ryan Jones and Alyssa Jones; five great grandchildren, Nevaeh Brown, Sophia Brown, Issac Brown, Toryn Murphy and Alianna McLemore; her sisters, Pamela (Donald) Rogers and Linda (Jimmy) Bradshaw and her brother, Jimmy (Peggy) DuBois. Her Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
