SAMUEL HALL

Obituary of SAMUEL HALL

SAMUEL “SAM” THOMAS HALL, age 83, of Pensacola, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2021, surrounded by family. Sam was born on October 15, 1937, in St. Albans, West Virginia, and he and his wife, Mary, raised their children in Pensacola. Sam and Mary moved to Homosassa, Florida, approximately 15 years ago, but returned to Pensacola in 2016, due to their declining health, and also so they could be close to family. He loved his family very much. He worked at American Cyanamid, now Sterling Fibers from 1958 until 1994 when he retired after 36 years. He spent his retirement “piddling” around the yard making sure it was always well manicured, planting and tending gardens, cast net fishing for mullet, rod fishing for trout, croakers (for bait of course) and whatever else decided to bite. He enjoyed playing canasta, poker and electronic bowling with Mom. He also enjoyed going to the Moose Lodge or the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge when his health would allow him. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Mary Evelyn Hall; his parents, Roy and Lillian Hall; his brothers, Bill, Bob, and Jack; his sisters, Carmelita and Genevieve; Mary’s brothers, Richard, Robert, and Francis “Buddy” Ware; and many longtime friends and co-workers. He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Hogue and Melissa Craighead; his brother-in-law, John “Sonny” Ware and his wife, Nadine, his grandchildren, Casey Hogue, Ariel Foster, Tyler Adkisson, Christian Hogue, Alex Grant, William Hogue, Arthur Craighead, III, his great granddaughter, Evelyn Foster, his great-great granddaughter, Presley Adkisson, and was happily awaiting the arrival of a granddaughter in December, a great grandchild in January, and a great-great granddaughter in October. He is also survived by many of his and Mary’s nieces and nephews and their families, and his longtime real close friends, Lloyd and Faye Hess, and Ross and Joy Snyder. The family wishes to express their heart felt gratitude for the comfort and care given to him at Covenant Hospice of Pensacola, at West Florida Hospital. There will be a private family memorial on a date in the future. Family-Funeral & Cremation will be responsible for the arrangements.
