Obituary of lionel dale mccowen

Lionel Dale McCowen, 89, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Lionel “Dale” McCowen was from Benton Harbor Michigan. He lived in Pensacola Florida for 42 years and attended Benton Harbor High School where he graduated in 1949, and went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering at Michigan Technology University. Dale was employed at Michigan Chemical Company where he co-authored two patents. Later he was employed by W.R. Grace Corporation as well as Well and Corporation in chemical sales. Retiring at age 65, Dale spent the next 20 years employed at the Lowes on Airport Blvd, in Pensacola, Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lionel H. McCowen and Bessie Mae (Small) McCowen; sons, Gregory D. McCowen and John B. McCowen; step-daughter, Jody Ciampaglia and brother, Robert H. McCowen. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Marlys McCowen; daughters, Valerie Jiannotti and Linda Huff; step-daughters, Jennifer Sindylek and Jackie Nunnari. Dale was married to his lovely wife Marlys for 42 years and was one of mutual respect and deep love for one another. The legacy of Dales kind spirit, strong work ethic and family values will live on through his daughters, Valerie McCowen Jiannotti of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Linda McCowen Huff of Columbia South Carolina and grandchildren, John B. McCowen, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; Megan McCowen Yankee of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; William G. Huff and George W. Huff, both of South Carolina, and four great grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
