Obituary of cheryl a. phillips

On Friday April 9, 2021, Cheryl Ann (Richards) Phillips age 60 passed away peacefully surrounded by her children after a short battle with cancer. Our beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend was born on January 12, 1961 in Waco, Texas to Sylvia (Poole) and James A. Richards Sr. She was a longtime resident of Shalimar and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1979. As a child of a military family, Cheryl traveled from Texas to Alaska. At the age of 7 her family moved to the beautiful Emerald Coast that Cheryl called “home” for the rest of her days. Cheryl could usually be found in one of 2 places, at work where she spent many years with the Bruner Law Firm or with her kids. Cheryl loved her kids unconditionally and was always their biggest fan and supporter. She never missed the chance to attend any of their athletic events. Aside from her children’s teams she was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. She is preceded in death by her father James A. Richards Sr. and nephew Matthew A. Woodham. She is survived by her mother Sylvia (Poole) Richards, her 3 children Jason Phillips, Jennifer Phillips, and Jaime (David) Leonard as well as her 3 siblings Jim (Deborah) Richards, Debbie (Fred) Tarbox, and Sandy (Jeff) Triplett and several nieces, nephews, and close friends including her lifelong Best friend, Pat Bailey. Cheryl was a force to be reckoned with. She was fierce and never took “no” for an answer. She was full of jokes and knew how to make anyone smile even during her final days. Cheryl was so loved and will be missed by many including her great Dane Bella. Thank you to our family, friends, and neighbors for your kindness and generosity during this time. Thank you, Emerald Coast Hospice, for your selfless efforts for exceptional care of our mother. A Celebration of Life will be held at Wyndham Gardens Conference Center, 573 Santa Rosa Blvd, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 beginning at 2 pm followed by a friends and family gathering at Sunset
