Ollo Joseph Mollere, D.D.S., 94, died 12:50 PM Friday, March 5, 2021, at his residence in Cantonment, FL. His beloved wife and daughter, Mary Katherine Mollere and Gail Mollere, were at his bedside when the angels came to take him to eternal life in heaven. He was born in New Orleans, LA on March 22, 1926. Ollo lived most of his life in Waveland, MS on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. Dr. Mollere is preceded in death by his parents, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Charles Brewster Mollere, United States Navy, and Genevieve Agnes Herlihy Mollere, Real Estate Owner and Broker, Waveland MS: his maternal grandparents, Timothy Hippolite Herlihy, Timber Merchant, and Mary Louisa Haas Herlihy, pioneers from Kiln, MS: his paternal grandparents, French Professor Paul Joseph Mollere and Martha Chadwick Mollere, Bay St. Louis, MS; and his brother, Charles Brewster Mollere, Jr., Waveland, MS. Also, preceding him in death were his seven loyal canine Boxer best friends named Freida, I through VII. Ollo is survived by his beautiful wife, Mary Katherine Brune Mollere; daughter, Gail Elizabeth Mollere, Cantonment FL; sons, Benjamin Ollo Joseph Mollere, Coral Gables FL, Paul Joseph Mollere, Pensacola FL, and Mark Joseph Mollere, Cantonment FL; four grandchildren, Jon-Paul Depreo, Katherine Nicole Depreo, Taylor Megan Mollere, and Jordan Joseph Mollere; five great-grandchildren, Alexander, Joseph, Frances, Josephine, and Winifred; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He knew the importance of encouraging family members to think and discuss topics intellectually. Ollo was committed to his family, ensuring they all knew of his support to achieve their highest potential, a very devoted patriarch. Dr. Mollere graduated high school, with honors from St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, MS. Obviously, a genius, he was accepted into Loyola School of Dentistry, New Orleans, LA, at the age of sixteen. Completing two full semesters of Dental School, he joined the United States Navy to serve in support of World War II. His mother, noting Ollo was a high achiever, consented and signed the military age waiver since he was only seventeen years old. He was stationed on Johnson Island in the Pacific. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Ollo, being a devout Catholic, completed a rotation through the Catholic Theological Seminary, Covington, LA. Following his Seminary training, he resumed his dental education at Loyola University New Orleans earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery, (DDS) degree, December 1952. He continued his admirable charitable works, donating his Clinical skills and assistance to the religious orders of the Catholic Priest, Sisters, and Brothers. He also attended many Catholic retreats at Manresa in LA. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Bay St. Louis MS, St. Claire Catholic Church, Waveland MS, the Holy Name Society, and was a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus then ascended to the highest status, the grand Knight. After moving to FL, Ollo continued his affiliation as a contributing member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Pensacola, FL. Upon graduation from Loyola Dental School, Ollo married, Mary Katherine Brune, “Kitty” at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL. December 23, 1952. Ollo and Mary Katherine met at Charity Hospital, New Orleans where Mary Katherine was completing her nursing degree. As an outstanding patriot, he was enthusiastic to serve his country again. Ollo reentered Active Duty serving as a distinguished Officer in the United States Army Dental Corps. He was stationed at Camp Polk, LA and the 5th United States Army 5th Medical Battalion, Munich Germany. Dr. Mollere practiced dentistry in Gretna LA, Bay St. Louis, MS, and later moved his clinic to Gulfport MS after Hurricane Camille in 1969. He was an outstanding dentist, both clinically and administratively, who was very respected in all his practice locations. His patients loved him, in fact, a favorite saying was: “He’s a heck of a good Dentist!” Ollo was highly active in the Mississippi Dental Association and with his exemplary leadership style his peers elected him President of the Association. Ollo was an avid and accomplished aviator, builder, sailor, marksman, writer, and motorcyclist. He had an adventurous spirit and kind soul. He constructed a home built experimental aircraft, Quicki8e Q2, in his hanger, flew it, and “buzzed” family and friends. He converted his tricycle landing gear Cessna to a trail dragger reflecting his endless creativity. Many exciting flight stories were re-lived in his plane, N444PP. With his dynamic personality and love for people, he enjoyed the excitement his passengers experienced as he took them flying. He loved the camaraderie of his aviator companions at the airfield, as well as in the air, flying inland and coastal flight patterns. Ollo was an energetic, multifaceted, and talented man. Moving on in equipment complexity and with his love for speed, he expanded his expertise to a V-tail Bonanza. With a brilliant mind and wealth of knowledge, he could formulate ideas and make them happen. There was nothing that he could not do. He always displayed integrity in his thoughts and actions. People that were blessed to know him will strive to emulate and carry on his ethical values. As his children said, “Dad was a good Daddy!” Ollo, Daddy, Dad, Pawpaw, Uncle Ollo, Dr. Mollere will truly be missed by all. Arrangements are being made by Family-Funeral & Cremation Home of Pensacola, FL. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for A Requiem Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church, Bellview, Pensacola FL. with Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL 32508.
