Obituary of george william boyle, sr.

George William Boyle, Sr., 85, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021. He was born on May 31, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He married Carol Alfonsin Boyle on November 23, 1957. George was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service as a Chief E-8 in 1975. He sailed on the maiden voyage of the first nuclear submarine, the USS Nautilus #571. George loved telling stories from his days aboard a submarine. He was very involved with the Drum Base in Mobile, Alabama. He was also very active with the Boy Scouts of America awards ceremonies representing Sub Vets. Over the years he and Carol were involved in many projects to help St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, many area churches, The Ronald McDonald house and many more. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Alfonsin Boyle; his parents, Joseph and Katherine Boyle; his brother, Joseph Boyle, Jr., and his great-granddaughter, Lila Jane Boyle. George is survived by his children, Kelly Boyle of Lucedale, MS; George (Janice) Boyle, Jr, also of Lucedale, MS, and Scott (Ann) Boyle who currently reside in Germany; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Boyle (Meghaan), Alyse (Jake) Watters, Christopher Boyle, George “Billy” Boyle, III, Kristin (Shane) Stork, Darla (Doug) Mansfield, Jayce (Eddie) Walker, and Tara Nicholson; great-grandchildren, Austin and Lillian Boyle, Kelsey Griffey, Seth and Landon Stork, Aiden and Annaleigh Mansfield, Kaiden Davis, and John Luke and James Walker. Donations in George’s memory can be made to the Boy Scouts of America at http://donations.scouting.org/#/national. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 22 at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 5627 N. Davis Highway, Pensacola, FL 32503 with visitation from 11:00-11:30am and service at 11:30am. A Committal Service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery immediately following the service.
