Obituary of marvin lEE shannon
Marvin Lee Shannon, age 74, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on December 2, 2020.
Marvin was born to Lt. Col. Harry Lee Shannon and Mary Louise Byrd - Shannon on August 18, 1946, in Durham, North Carolina.
He experienced and adventured many places and schools, growing up in a military family. Marvin served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967 in Korea, during the Korean DMZ Conflict. Marvin was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend.
His most loved and enjoyed time spent were gatherings with his family, working with his sons, bingo with his sister, Donna and his love for and restoration of old classic cars.
Marvin is preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee Shannon; mother, Mary Louise Byrd - Shannon; brother, Charles “Chuck” Shannon; sons, Jared Shannon and Austin Shannon.
He is survived by his children, David Shannon and Christopher (Gayla) Shannon; grandchildren, Eric (Kira) Shannon, Taber Shannon, Alia Shannon, Piper Shannon and Bodhi Shannon; siblings, Donna (Earl) Cartwright, Ken (Ree) Shannon, Harriet (Kevin) Pugh, Timothy Shannon and many nieces and nephews.
A private family Committal Service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, where he will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a memorial be made in his honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.
