Obituary of sandra VIOLET MCNEW frey

Sandra McNew Frey (Sandy), 82, of Pensacola, Florida was called home to heaven on Monday, October 5, 2020. Sandy was born on November 13, 1937 in San Francisco, California to Mary and Layrane (Mac) McNew. When her father retired from the US Navy, the McNews returned to Pensacola. Sandy graduated from Pensacola High School in 1955. She enlisted and served in the US Army from 1955-1959. The US Army sent her to Chicago, Germany and Hawaii. She met and married her first husband, Ale and had five children while in Hawaii. Sandy returned to Pensacola with her family. She attended business school and then worked in Civil Service at NAS Pensacola until her retirement. Sandy joined the Innerarity Point volunteer fire department during the 70’s and sometimes drove the fire truck. She and her family were involved in starting and building the baseball program at Baars Field, from clearing the woods to bake sales, fish frys, team mother, and coaching. Sandra met and married her second husband, Ken Frey and raised two daughters with him. Sandra and Ken moved to England for seven years. They explored England and traveled through Europe while there. They returned to Pensacola and retired. Sandra and her husband were active members of their church from England to Innerarity Point. She was a member of the Innerarity Point Church of Christ. Sandy was known for the sock monkeys she made. Her sock monkeys were safe for babies, washable and all had individual outfits. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Mac McNew; her siblings, Raymond, Gary, Stanley, Roger, Sketti and Darlene; her son, David; grandson, Shawn and nephew, Joey. She is survived by her loving husband, Ken Frey; sons, Ale (Noe) and Tim (Melissa); her daughters, Ipo (Scott), Lani (Tom), Elizabeth, and Staci; niece, Kathy (Brad); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;, one great-great-grandchild and great-nephews, Joseph, Tyler and Jonathan. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Innerarity Point Church of Christ, 13250 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola FL 32507 with visitation from 11:00-12:00pm and service at 12:00pm, with Perry Phillips officiating.. A Committal Service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, (Shelter A), 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola FL at 2:00pm following the service.
