Obituary of benjamin rhyne cecil
Benjamin Rhyne Cecil passed unexpectedly in his home on the early morning of September 6, 2020 at the young age of 23.
Ben is survived by his father, David Cecil; his two sisters Ashley Cecil and Megan McConchie; his grandfather, James B. Thompson; and his grandmother, Barbara Donnelly. Ben had five uncles and six aunts. He had numerous cousins and friends.
He is preceded by his mother, Gretchen Ackerly Cecil; his grandfather, Albert Ackerly, and his grandmother, Jean M. Pearcy.
Ben was born in Pensacola, Florida to David and Gretchen Cecil. He attended school in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Ben worked in a few different job fields, but his most valued job was being one of his mother’s main caregivers when she was battling with cancer. He dedicated his time, energy, and around the clock care to make sure his mom had everything she needed and wanted. He treasured every minute with his mother.
Ben had a passion for cars, motorcycles, trucks, and really anything that gave him a thrill. Ben and his family were captivated by drifting events, which provided them all with a fun thrilling sport they could share together. Ben loved his red 240 and he could whip that little car around any corner or obstacle that got in his way. He loved to show off his skills and was known to drift sideways into his driveway to make sure his family knew he was home. He really enjoyed sharing his passion of drifting with friends and family by taking them for rides with him.
Ben’s passing has come as a terrible shock for all of us. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. Ben will be cremated, and we will announce memorial service information in the near future.
