Obituary of david eugene resmondo

David Eugene Resmondo passed from this life on Saturday, September 5th, 2020, at the age of 82. He was born August 3, 1938. He was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Lively Resmondo; their children, Daniel W. Resmondo and Jo Ann Resmondo Guffey (Mike); grandchildren, Michael Guffey, Jennifer Guffey, Katie Guffey Cantrell (Britain), Nicholas Guffey, Cody Resmondo and Jarrod Resmondo.; six great-grandchildren, Karli, Kaysen, Brooks, Jacob, Jaxon, and Myli. He is also survived by his brothers, Irmie S. Resmondo, Jr. (Sandy) and Donald R. Resmondo (Lucie); sisters, Darrah (Sis) Resmondo Fowler and Emogene Resmondo Johnson (Bill), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. David was preceded in death by his son, David E. Resmondo, Jr.; father, Irmie S. Resmondo, Sr.; mother, Emma Anita (Quarrier) Resmondo-Dean; his brother, Robert E. (Bobby) Resmondo; nephew, Ronnie Resmondo; brother-in-law, Lester Fowler and in-laws, James Lamar Lively and Ilder Ruth Lively. He was a member of the Innerarity Point Church of Christ. He was a patriotic American and proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the late 1950’s on a number of Navy ships and sea-going tugs. Among his assignments was serving aboard the USS Staten Island in support of Operation Deep Freeze IV in Antarctica. He retired from Newport Industries/Reichold Chemicals after 44 years of service. He and Barbara were among the first families involved with the start-up of what became Baars Field, where he coached his children’s baseball teams. He was an avid cast net thrower. He loved catching mullet and sharing them with friends and relatives. He grew up fishing the waters of Perdido Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. He was dearly loved and will be missed. Graveside services will be at the Old Spanish Cemetery, Lillian, Alabama. Minister, Andy Cates, of the Innerarity Point Church of Christ, will officiate. A veteran’s Honor Guard will participate.
