Obituary of Nickolaus anthony long

Nickolaus Anthony Long, 22, of Pensacola, Florida died by suicide advocating for “Right to Die”and “Death with Dignity” on July 10, 2020. His family, friends, teachers,and fellow gamers are all deeply saddened by his passing. He will be missed more than words can convey. Nick was born to Mark and Lisa Long in San Diego, California on March 25, 1998. Following his graduation from the Pensacola Private School of Liberal Arts (SoLA) in 2016, he went to Mountain View, California and completed a paid internship with Google, who valued his work, and returned home to pursue a degree in cyber security. Nick is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ken and Maurine Dorman; paternal grandparents, Jim and Karen Long and along with his best friend and dog Kesha. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Long; his sister, Katie Long; his dog, Big Dude; cousins, aunts, and uncles. He loved spending countless hours with his friends online and held various admin rights to a variety of online communities. He was a top 500 Overwatch gamer, avid Dragon Ball Z and Pokémon fan who worked to catalog various work to share with others. He had a love for everything related to Akira Toriyama and his work. Those who knew Nick, knew that his passion for equality and inclusion were what kept him grounded. His immense commitment to his friends, peers, teachers, and the staff at SOLA were a strong source of positivity. Though he faced a myriad of challenges, Nick made many meaningful connections with people. His desire for spending time with friends–Max, Josslyn, Terez, Justin, Katie, Blake, and Laura, to name a few, held a special place in Nick’s heart. Per Nick’s last wishes, his family encourages that you educate yourself on “Right to Die” along with “Death with Dignity” and contact your local legislature on how you can support the movement. This motion is based around the opinion that human beings are entitled to end their life and/or undergo voluntary euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. Family-Funeral & Cremation of Pensacola, Florida has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 5627 N. Davis Highway, Pensacola, Florida with visitation from 12:00-1:00pm and service at 1:00pm. The service will be live-streamed on Family-Funeral & Cremation's facebook page. The family is asking all who knew Nick to attend and honor his life. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the Pensacola School of Liberal Arts in Pensacola, Florida as they played such an important and crucial part in his life.
