Obituary of jeff robert vaughan

Jeff Robert Vaughan, 82, of Gulf Breeze, Florida died peacefully holding his family’s hands on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. He was born July 29, 1937 in New Orleans, LA, and began his life of service in 1956 enlisting in the U S Army which led to a career in law enforcement working as a chief inspector for US Customs Service and Border Patrol for 46 years. He was on the Blue Lightning Task Force in charge of the National Guard and undercover sites working with the sheriffs and police departments of 5 states. He was a chief instructor for the Strike Zone Force training local officers in border patrol and customs law. Upon retirement he moved to Navarre, FL where for the past 20 years he has cherished his time with his family. When not fishing, he was gardening, gambling, or cooking for gatherings with family and friends, known by many as the Corn and Crawfish Bisque King. He especially loved boating and spending time with grandchildren. He volunteered at Oriole Beach Elementary, and served on the Sound Hammock HOA Board. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Rosemary Swenson Vaughan and Jefferson Roland Vaughan; his sisters, Alice Hoda, Imogene Johnson, Katherine Vyas and brothers, Roland K. Vaughan and Wyatt G. Vaughan and his grandson, Jeffrie Ursin. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rochelle Avila Vaughan; sister, Rosemary (Alan) Landeche and brothers, Donald (Tammie) Vaughan and Charles (Penny) Vaughan. He is also survived by his children, Janine (Jules) Ursin, Joline (Mike) LaCoste and Jeflyn (Tye) Mire and step-daughters, Julie (Tim) Rogers-Martin and Joy (Kevin) Anaston. He is survived by grandchildren, Julie Ursin (Jonathan) Walters, Lindsay LaCoste (Matty) Ott, Lacey and Luke LaCoste, Tyler, Dylan and Dawson Mire, Jared and Jacob Rogers-Martin, Brian Ponthieux and Savannah Anaston, as well as great-grandchildren, Ariana and Anniston Walters. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jeff’s honor to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 106. N.
