Obituary of elizabeth denise corey

Elizabeth Denise Corey of Pensacola, Florida, was born on April 26, 1958 in Spokane, Washington, the second living daughter and third child of Alexander Elias Corey, a pilot in the US Air Force originally from Washington, Pennsylvania, and Joyce Elizabeth Corey (nee’ Harrell) of Chipley, Florida. By the time she graduated from Woodham High School in Pensacola, Liz had already moved from Spokane to Tacoma, WA to Selma, AL to Ypsilanti, MI to Ramstein, Germany, to Washington DC, to Panama City, FL, to Eglin Air Force Base, FL, and to Ankara, Turkey where she attended George C. Marshall American High School. She worked primarily as a legal secretary in both Pensacola and Tennessee. She also spent several years in Houston, Texas and Central Florida. Elizabeth enjoyed reading novels, listening to music, crocheting and baking the most delicious cheesecakes ever. She cherished every child born to her siblings and their children and maintained a special bond with each and every one of them. She had a phenomenal memory and could recall addresses and telephone numbers from her childhood. She had a special connection with cats and grieved the loss of many, especially her loyal and beloved Tiger Lily, and leaves sweet Odie to grieve for her. Liz was plagued by health issues for the last several years, including COPD for which she was hospitalized multiple times, however, she didn’t let her problems get her down and was enjoying her life at the home of her eldest brother Shannon Corey and sister-in-law Annette. She is survived also by one older sister, Pamela Corey; one younger sister, Jennifer (Dwain) Brahier; and two younger brothers, Paul and Adam (Brandy) Corey; nieces and nephews, Gabrielle (J.R.), Vernon (Amanda), Sarah, Allyson (David), Danielle, Dana (Don), Nathaniel (Shelley), Dustin, Marissa, Mea, and Tyler; great-nieces and nephews, Arianna, Amelia, Raya, Mylo, Charlotte, Elaina, Clementine, Lindy, Abram, Samuel, Sienna, Benjamin, Calum, and Oliver. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved nephew, Jeffrey Corey and niece, Rhianna Cox. She leaves behind many friends, both old and new, to grieve her passing as well. Elizabeth was deeply loved by many who will carry her in their hearts forever. A virtual celebration of life will be held on Sunday May 24, 2020 at 4:00 pm.
