Obituary of Gordon Howard lay, Sr.

Gordon Howard Lay Sr. took his final breath on May 1, 2020, surrounded by the ones he loved most. He was born on September 27, 1934 at home in Pace, FL. Gordon served in the Marine Corps from 1954-56. He then retired from Air Products after 33 years. Gordon aka "Big G" was an avid gardener, Florida Gator fan, and loved coaching little league baseball in his younger years. Most of all he loved his family and would do anything for them. He was preceded in death by parents, John Gordon Lay and Margaret Penton Lay; daughters, Mary Frances Lay and Judith Helana Moore and granddaughter, Stacy Michelle Livingston. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith Ann Lay; daughters, Summer Kathleen (Allen) Lipson and Margaret Elaine (Jerry) Lee; son, Gordon Howard (Angela) Lay, Jr.; step daughter, Cindy McCormick; step son, George Overby Jr.; brother Bryant (Lois) Lay and Frank (Nancy) Lay; sister, Jeanette(Jim) Blake; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A special thank you to Sandy Ridge Rehabilitation and Emerald Coast Hospice for their care. A celebration of life will be held May 11, 2020 for immediate family. Go Gators! A Committal Service will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:30 AM at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida 32508.
