Obituary of sandra lee bucci

Sandra Lee Bucci, 86, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020, at The Haven of Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home in Pensacola, Florida. She was born in 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, to George Jerome Smythe and Florence Brant Smythe. She played the string bass for the high school and the city orchestra, an instrument which, at that time, was very unusual for a woman to play. In 1955, Sandra married Anthony (Tony) Bucci. They moved to Florida where they started Tony’s Pizza, which they grew from one restaurant into a successful franchise, with locations all over the southeast. In the 1960’s, she and her family attended St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pensacola. Sandra was very involved in organizing St. Anne’s Roundup, which began as a simple fundraising chicken-dinner. For many years, she helped in the Roundup’s craft shop and sewed costumes. She enjoyed decorating and was a representative for Home Interiors and Gifts, Inc. for 25 years. She also loved to travel and was known to be able pack up in a moment’s notice for a last minute trip anywhere. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony; her brother, Glen Arthur Smythe and her daughter, Lori Louise Bucci. She is survived by her children, Tina Marie Camps (Jeffrey), Anthony Joseph Bucci (Vivian), and Thomas Nicola Bucci (Pamela); 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. A Private Family Celebration of Life will take place Friday April 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Florida 32504. Sandra will be interred alongside her husband Tony at Barrancas National Cemetery.
