Obituary of Gloria ann overfield
Gloria Overfield finally found eternal peace on February 22, 2020 after a lengthy, courageous health battle. Her bravery, strength and determination to not only fight, but win every challenge presented to her has been an inspiration to many people.
Gloria Ann (Stuteville) Overfield was born on August 6, 1950. She was the second daughter to Art and Mary Stuteville from Stilwell, Kansas. She married the love of her life Charles Nelson Overfield on August 30, 1969. They loved and supported each other for over 50 years and were blessed with two children and a grandson. Charlie’s job in the military would take them to California, North Carolina, Florida, Turkey and Germany.
Gloria became very involved with physical fitness, and eventually opened her own fitness center, Go Fitness. Her health battles began in 1996 when she was first diagnosed with a stage 4 cancer. She fought back and won that battle, but the treatment that saved her life then, took a toll on her quality of life in later years. She became very involved with the American Cancer Society, and coordinated fund raising events for the local Relay for Life in her community. Later after winning her breast cancer battle she would coordinate an annual Zumba Party in Pink event to raise money for breast cancer research. The number of lifelong friendships she has made are as vast as the countless fitness classes she instructed.
Gloria loved creating the most beautiful works of art with her cross-stitch hobby. Many of us are fortunate to have some of her pieces that we will forever cherish. She also enjoyed baking and cooking the most amazing love filled treats and meals for her family and friends.
Gloria is survived by the family she deeply loved and adored, her soul mate husband, Charles Overfield, Niceville, FL; daughter, Jessica Crawford (Grant), Crestview, FL; son, Vincent Overfield (Lora Mertz), Shawnee, KS; grandson, Zach Lowitz; sisters, Theresa Stuteville and Cindi Keegan (Mike); brother, Larry Stuteville (Pattie); sister-in-law, Susie (David) Houser; brother-in-law, Dana Overfield and several adoring nieces and nephews.
Our lives are greater for having known such an amazing woman and there are no words to explain the magnitude of this loss. We will take comfort in knowing she is finally home, pain free, and dancing through heaven.
A service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm at St. Jude's Episcopal Church, 200 N. Partin Drive (aka State Road 285), Niceville, Florida 32578. A reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Episcopal Church or Vitas Hospice.
