Steven Charles Meacher died in Pensacola, Florida on December 2, 2019. Steven was born on July 12, 1946 in Monrovia, California to Captain and Mrs. Leo Meacher. He was a “navy brat” who enjoyed growing up on both coasts. He graduated from W. T. Woodson High School in Fairfax County, Virginia where he was a fullback on the football team his sophomore, junior and senior years and joined the ROTC to become a member of the Naval Reserve. He attended college at the University of Alaska and University of Maryland where he became a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity before enlisting in the Army. In the army, he did his basic training at Fort Polk in Louisiana, Primary WORWAC training at Fort Wolters in Texas and Advanced WORWAC training at Hunter Army Airfield in Georgia. He then served one tour of duty in Vietnam as an Assault Helicopter Pilot with the “Chicken Hawk” platoon. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Aviator Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Service Bars, the Air Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. Upon return from Vietnam, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Texas Christian University and his Master of Business Administration from Butler University. He served the majority of his life as a Real Estate Developer. He was honored to have most recently worked with The LaSalle Group out of Dallas, Texas, where the focus was on developing, building, and managing Autumn Leaves Assisted Living Facilities for Memory Care. Steven was the devoted husband of Marti Campbell Meacher and the proud father of Lara Meacher Awalt. He was fortunate to have a sister, Delaine Meacher Walker and a brother, Eric Meacher. His father Captain Leo Meacher, USN, Ret. and his mother Thalia Costantino predeceased him. Per Steven’s request, there will be no ceremony or celebration at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made is Steven’s name to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Neuro Oncology Department or to Covenant Care Hospice, Pensacola, FL.
