On the morning of October 3, 2019, James Boyce Timms II was quietly and peacefully placed into the hands of his all merciful Maker. Present at his side were his beloved wife Betty, his daughter, Ashley Pershall, her husband Louie, his grand-daughter Danielle, his grandson, Tyler, and his lifelong best friend and brother in spirit, John Kuder. Jim was also survived by his sisters, Ellie and Julie Timms and his step-sons, Gary, Travis and Kenny Crawley. He was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Marie Davidson; his father, James Boyce Timms; and his sister, Donna Jo Wyrick. Jim will be remembered by those who knew him best for his keen sense of integrity and loyalty, his uncanny knack of unearthing the humor of the moment beneath even the hardest places along life’s road; and perhaps most of all for his unyielding courage in the most desperate of circumstances. Jim was born on August 20, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia. With the exception of times spent away at school, and periods of employment he was a lifelong resident of Pensacola and Pensacola Beach. Jim received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from the University of South Alabama and Mobile College. He was a consummate banker and stock broker but his heart always belonged to education. Throughout his illustrious career, Jim served as a Teacher, Dean of Students, Curriculum Coordinator and School Principal. He retired from the Escambia County School System on June 30, 2013. Jim spent his final days with his wife Betty at their home on Pensacola Beach. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and attended Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Pensacola Beach. Jim suffered greatly during his last days but always with the faith that eternal joy was soon to be his reward. It is sometimes said that death comes to us with pride and disdain – often accompanied by death’s constant companions, pain and fear. But on this day October 3, 2019, death came alone, for he came on a mission of mercy.
