Obituary of Jene lorane hatcher

Jene Lorane Hatcher 08/24/1939 - 08/25/2019 Jene L. Hatcher was born in Atmore, Alabama but lived most of her early adult life in Pensacola, Florida and for the past 40 years, in Barrineau Park, Florida. She passed away at the age of 80. She was a hardworking woman who started working at the age of 3 years old when she stood on a milk crate to reach the cash register in her father's grocery store. She later worked at Escambia General Hospital as an EKG technician before earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Pensacola Junior College in the early 70's. Jene worked as a registered nurse (RN) at University Hospital for many years in the ER and later as the nurse manager of Unicare, and of Escambia Community Clinics when she retired in 2002. Her patients all loved her and she touched the lives of thousands. She was a very inquisitive woman who loved life and learning, her family and her fur babies. She rarely met a stranger and people were drawn to her like a magnet. She loved history and antiques, sitting on her porch, piddling with her flowers, and working on her land. She was a spiritual person and she loved being outside, but her happiest of all places was the beach. Camping, fishing, crabbing, swimming, walking and picking up seashells, watching the boats go by and even people watching, she adored anything that allowed her to smell the salt in the air, the warmth of the sun on her skin, and to put her toes in the sand. She loved rocks and especially if you gave her one from your own travels and had a story to go with it. She was a creative woman who loved and appreciated the arts. She did metalworking, chainmaille, jewelry making and her latest adventure was into painting. She was always up for a road trip and loved to go anywhere. Didn't matter to her if you knew where you were going or not; you were going somewhere and she was going too. She excelled at many, many things and she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Above all, she believed you should live life with gusto and never take today for granted. She wanted to be remembered with love and laughter but not tears and sadness. She is at peace now and no more suffering. She is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Jasper Fowler; mother, Ruby Mae Baker Fowler; sisters, Gloria Fowler Mayne and Penny Fowler. Jene is survived by her son, Ronnie Hatcher, Jr., of Barrineau Park, Florida; daughter, Carol Hatcher of Barrineau Park, Florida; granddaughter, Whitney Glenn of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; two great grandsons, Kayden Glenn and Mattox Glenn of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; two brothers, Willie Ray Fowler of Atmore, Alabama and Cecil (Mona) Fowler of Pensacola, Florida; sister, Tina (Wayne) Butts of Saint James, Missouri; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Jene will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
