While raising her two daughters, she attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She continued her education at UWF and received her Master’s Degree in Reading. Norma used her education and passion to teach the children of Escambia County schools for the next 30 years. She also, “in her spare time”, taught adult reading education at PJC. She was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for over 20 years. She has also been a member of Pilots International and a certified Red Cross swimming instructor. Norma is survived by her daughters, Estelle Boyce and Renee’ Peden and granddaughters, Heather Hille and Laura Welborn. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th at the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge from 3pm to 5pm. At 3pm, a short ceremony will be conducted by the Elk’s leadership to honor her service followed by the Celebration of Life. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in her name. This is a premier no-kill refuge which cares for all animals including dog, cats, farm animals and even emus. Norma was an animal lover and was always surrounded by them. Here is the website if you would like to make a tribute gift. https://www.alaqua.org/how-to-help/donate-now/
