Obituary of Lawrence Lane Ensley

Lawrence Lane Ensley, 67, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Lawrence Lane Ensley, "Larry", passed away in Pensacola, FL on January 29, 2019 at the age of 67. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Ensley and Ann Caffaro, his beloved pets Cricket, Cooper, and Mittens, and his 1976 Corvette Stingray. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen, his daughters, Lauren Valencia (Joshua), Holly Houghton (Patrick), Jennifer Evans (Michael), six grandchildren, his brother, Lee Ensley (Emily), and numerous other loving relatives. He is also survived by his three dogs: Chance, Coco Chanel, and Sugar. Originally born in Norfolk, Va, Larry's parents eventually settled in the Brownsville area of Pensacola. As a child, Larry loved sports and was a prominent member of his baseball teams: West Pensacola and Myrtle Grove. In fact, in 1964 at age 12 he won the West Pensacola Dixie Youth Batting Title with an impressive batting average of .493. Larry later became a multi-sport athlete at Escambia High School, participating in Baseball, Track, Football, and Wrestling. After high school he graduated from the University of West Florida with a Degree in Psychology and was Social Chair of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Post college Larry spent time in the Marine Corps before returning to Pensacola to begin a career in the local food industry. Early in his career, Larry managed Shakey's Pizza on Fairfield Drive, which was often noted as having the best pizza in town. He later provided groceries to many restaurants, schools, grocery stores, and Naval Air Station Pensacola. In North Florida, you have likely bought and eaten something he was responsible for. After retiring in 2010, Larry became a substitute teacher for the Escambia County School District. He was beloved by many teachers and students who called him "Mr. E". Larry is remembered for his laid back and joking manner, his love of entertaining, cooking, dogs, the Dodgers, and true crime series. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family encourages donations be made to the Junior Humane Society of Pensacola or the animal welfare charity of your choice.
