Obituary of Valerie D. Gallienne

Valerie D. Gallienne, 66, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Valerie Diane Gallienne, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, crossed into Eternity on December 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father Donald H. Hill, mother Harriet Gallienne, and older brother John L. Gallienne. She is survived by her sisters: Kim Gallienne; Priscilla Christmas; Christina (Larry) Ross; Sheila Robarts; Melissa (Jeff) Cooper; and her brothers Paul Gallienne; Donald H. (Holly) Hill, Jr.; Glen Hill, Dean (Joanne) Hill,and Dale Hill. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, but moved to Panama City in 1990. She spent some time working in Atlanta, Georgia, but always thought of Panama City as her home. Valerie was a caring, nurturing woman who was a nurse for more than 30 years. She worked in all aspects of the nursing field, first as an RN, then as Director of Nursing, and finally as an Administrator. She enjoyed traveling and worked as a traveling nurse for many years. After retiring from nursing, Valerie attended Unity Village and became a Certified Licensed Teacher, later becoming an ordained Minister with Unity Church. She especially enjoyed performing wedding ceremonies for her friends and their families. Valerie loved nature, and had a deep connection to animals. She would spoil any dog or cat that she came in contact with and spent many hours pet-sitting for friends. Her favorite pastime in the last few years was watching shows on Animal Planet and National Geographic channels. She was fascinated by the world around us and would spend hours looking at beautiful pictures of trees, flowers, animals, scenic vistas, and pictures taken in space. These pictures brought her tremendous joy as she marveled at the beauty of the planet and the universe. She loved all the colors of nature, especially purple and teal. A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM, at the Community of Christ located at 3190 Olive Rd, Pensacola, Florida, 32514. All are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so can make a contribution in her memory to the Humane Society of Bay County, INC.
