Obituary of Malania C. Williams

Malania Bess Cothran Williams, 61, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Laney, daughter of Robert and Johnnie Bess Cothran, was born April 8, 1957 at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. She then grew up all over the world as an “Air Force Brat,” eventually finding her true home in Pensacola, FL in 1984. Laney earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in art from the University of West Florida. She then earned a degree in nursing from Pensacola Junior College, and combined her love of care giving and mental health for the remainder of her career. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Williams; her sister, Martha Cothran and her father, Robert Cothran. Laney is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Eric) Moore and grandsons Elijah and Lincoln, all of Kernersville, NC; her mother, Johnnie Cothran of Little Rock, AR; her sisters, Mary Posey of Baton Rouge, LA and Teresa Baker of Little Rock, AR and her two cats Canela and Rhiannon. A private family memorial will be held on the beach to celebrate Laney’s love and life.
