Obituary of William "Bill" Michael Sands

William “Bill” Michael Sands, 63, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away, Monday, June 4, 2018 at Covenant Care in Pensacola, Florida. Born May 17, 1955 in Billerica, Massachusetts to Harry and Doris Sands, he graduated from Billerica High School in June 1973 and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 1973. On January 16, 1981 he married the former Lois Regina Smith in San Diego, California. Lieutenant Commander Bill Sands served in the Navy for over 30 years, achieving Chief Petty Officer, Chief Warrant Officer and Limited Duty Officer, his career spanned numerous aircraft carriers, squadrons and naval air stations. His selfless devotion to duty left a lasting impression on the Navy, forged many friendships and positively affected the lives of countless Sailors. Bill is survived by his wife Lois of 37 years, son Christopher (Sarah), son Nathaniel (Trudy); grandchildren Colby, Avery, Sophie, Landon, Olivia and Stella and many loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and extended family. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. A visitation will be held at 1:30 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Florida 32504.
