Angelyn Swinney

Obituary of Angelyn Swinney

Angelyn Veal Swinney, the loving wife, soul mate and business partner of David Mark Swinney, was called to live in paradise. On April 18, 2018, Angelyn peacefully entered paradise from Sacred Heart Hospital after a short illness brought on by an intracranial hemorrhage. Angelyn and Mark together owned and operated “Swinney and Associates” for over nineteen years. The business specializes in land surveying with Mark performing the field work while Angelyn managed the office and business matters. Angelyn loved life to the fullest and was known by hundreds as the force behind the annual “Blue Angel” party held at the Swinney residence on Bayou Grande directly across the bayou from the main flight runway used by the “Blues” when they put on their annual fall flight show in November. Hamburgers and hot dogs by the hundreds along with a smorgasbord of various foods along with various beverages was consumed by all attending. It was Angelyn’s wish that the event be an open party with all comers invited to watch the air show, eat, drink and enjoy the fellowship, good times and company. Angelyn was a loyal and dedicated fan if not the single most loyal and dedicated fan in Pensacola, Florida of the singer “Kid Rock”. She loved his music. Time and expense permitting she was in attendance at as many of his concerts as she was able. Other than her loving husband of over seventeen years, David Mark Swinney , she loved the “Kid” as much as any woman could without being his wife. The “Kid” probably never heard the name of Angelyn Swinney or knew her from his other thousands of fans but if he had listened carefully when performing on concert he would have heard her screaming out in excitement over him. Angelyn is survived by Mark; her mother, Patricia “Pat” Blevins; step dad, Rick Blevins; father Ad (Donna)Veal; sister, Tricia (Price) Allen; nieces, Addison & Jo Anna; brother, Jeb (Kristen) Veal; sister, Traci (Drew) Comer; nieces, Caroline & Mollie Comer; daughter, Gina (Adam) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Drew, Anthony & Adalyn; sisters-in-laws, Charla (Steve) Finley, Alisa Dixon & Sarah Tibbett and brother-in-law, Paul Swinney; father-in-law, Russ Swinney; close friends and neighbors, Rick & Evie Morgan and Dennis & Donna Roy and life-long friends Vicky Stodenmire & Evelyn Gingras Scruggs. Angelyn had requested she be cremated and her ashes be scattered in the wind out in the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico where she and Mark had spent countless hours on fishing trips. Family-Funeral & Cremation is handling the cremation and Mark along with company will take her ashes to carry out her wishes at a date to be determined. A celebration of life event in Angelyn’s memory will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 beginning at 3:00 pm at the Swinney residence at 3603 Sunnyside Drive. Snack Food and beverages will be available. Friends are invited to attend and bring a covered dish for all to share under the oak trees and to enjoy the fresh air. Bring lawn chairs if you have them. Mark and family wish to thank the nursing staff of the ICU unit for the loving care given to Angelyn during her stay there.
