Obituary of Richard Arlen Stine

Master Chief Richard “Dick” Stine, 80, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 16, 2018. Dick was born on March 24, 1938 in Bellefonte, PA to John L. and Edna M. Stine of Port Matilda. He graduated from State College High School in 1956. He was a football standout as quarterback for the State College Lions. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957 and served 30 years. In that time he accumulated more than 14,000 flight hours as an air crewman and P-3 flight engineer, achieving the rank of Master Chief Avionics Technician and earning the Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Battle E Award, eight good conduct awards, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Antarctic and the Enlisted Aircrew Insignia. Dick enjoyed golf, watching sporting events and travel. He will be missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded to Heaven by his parents, his wife Joan Stine, his loving companion Margaret Emmert and his sister Anna Maise Trostle. He is survived by two daughters, Debbra Ann Brewer, Anchorage, AK and Sharon K. Nicholas of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Laura Brewer, Tracey Henri, Sandra Cacy, Rachel Brewer, John Nicholas and Justin Nicholas and eight great grandchildren. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Pine Hall Cemetery, 1750 West College Avenue, State College, Pennsylvania.
