Obituary of Bernie Lomax "Max" Austin

Max Austin, 74, died at his home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Max grew up in Banks, Alabama but lived in Milton, Florida most of his adult life. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he graduated from Troy State University. He was a retired teacher with the Santa Rosa County School System. Max enjoyed many interests including reading, playing the guitar and woodcarving. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his bounty with family, friends and neighbors. Max is survived by his wife, Janis; three sons, Dennis, Nathan and Jeff; two cherished grandsons, Tyler and Connor; his sister, Sue Stone; two brothers, Butch and Danny Austin and many other loving family members. There will not be a public funeral service, but a private ceremony honoring his life will be held at a later time.
