Obituary of Patricia A. Karp

Patricia A. Karp 1930-2017 Pat Karp of Pensacola, FL was called to the Lord Tuesday November 14, 2017. She had a tremendous faith and depth of character which she called upon and shared in conversation with those around her during her final peaceful days. Pat was born in Rockford, IL to the union of Philo and Sarah Stiles Parker in 1930. Pat graduated from West High and Northern Illinois University. She began her physical education teaching career in Sycamore, IL, continued in Reno, NV and Pensacola, FL beginning in 1970. Pat retired in 1993 with 27 years of friendships, phys ed and classroom memories. Determined, competitive,independent and caring of others, she was always there for her friends and her family’s most important life events. Always busy with something to do, someone to see and somewhere to go, Pat enjoyed many activities including gardening, church involvement, EREA, a variety of bridge groups, UWF faculty wives club, traveling and entertaining with a theme. She was a very social person with many close friends. She also took great delight in watching and remaining current with her son’s and grandchildren’s activities. As a mother, she instilled core values and guiding principles that have served both her sons well. Pat is survived by her sons, David of Pensacola, FL, Daniel (Leslie) and grandchildren Andrew and Katie of Winter Garden, FL, her brother Rex (Carol) Parker and their children Tim, Toby and Traci of Rockford, IL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2 at St Paul Lutheran Church, 4600 North 9th Avenue in Pensacola. There will be a private family visitation from 9:30-10 followed by an open visitation with her family from 10-11 in Fellowship Hall. A Celebration of Life Service for Pat will take place from 11-12 followed by a private committal service at the church’s Memorial Gardens and an open reception in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church.
